Dinner with a friend
November 10, 2007 – 10:42 am
It wasn’t too recent, but I found these pictures and figured I would clear them off my computer. This was dinner out with a friend/co-worker. Interesting thing is that on one day a year, the majority of the local police department works as waiters and bus boys and water boys for the restaurant.
So I had the opportunity to take pictures while at the Elephant Bar Restaurant but was a bit shy about it. I just didn’t think it was a good idea to get caught taking pictures without asking, but I didn’t ask if it was alright. I’m sure the police would have been fine with it, but I didn’t ask. Things have changed though, so these days I would just ask and start snapping away.

Not normal to see a waiter packing a gun.. even around Los Angeles.

I’m going to guess that there were a total of 15 officers around the restaurant.

My friend got this alcoholic drink. I got a Jack & Coke. Neither of us wanted a second drink.. just so that we didn’t draw attention to ourselves. Oh ya, it’s not very comfortable ordering an alcholic beverage from a police officer.

Between my friend and I we donated $5 directly to the charity the police department was representing, which was a Special Olympics organization. Also, the total bill had a percentage go to the organization (I don’t recall the percentage).

This was more of a reminder about the organization that was being donated to. Notice the water in front of my friend at this point? I told you it was hard ordering the alcoholic beverage from a policeman, and ordering a second drink was just not going to happen.

I often sign a different name when signing a receipt. I’ve done this for years but now I’ve been more creative. In this case, my friend likes Michael Buble’s music so I decided to sign as Michael Buble.
